Other leaders in the early *church wrote them. They wrote these letters to help encourage the people of God. The New Testament includes eight of those letters.

After you read what the book of James is about, you will find some verses to read. These verses will help you understand James. You will see what was important to him.

James

James was the half-brother of Jesus. He did not always understand who Jesus was. But James came to believe that Jesus is the *Messiah. James was a man of action. He talked about how a believer should live out their faith. If someone says they are a Christian, they should live like one. James shows that he learned much from Jesus. You will find many of the same things that Jesus talked about in the book of James.
