The New Testament is a collection of twenty-seven books. All of the books come from the first followers of Jesus. Some of the books take only a few minutes to read. But before you read the books in the New Testament, it helps to know what each book is about.

Here are a few words to help you to read the New Testament book of 2 Peter. 2 Peter is one of the books that we call the “general letters.” Paul did not write these books. Other leaders in the early *church wrote them. They wrote these letters to help encourage the people of God. The New Testament includes eight of those letters.

 

After you read what the book of 2 Peter is about, you will find some verses to read. These verses will help you understand Peter. You will see what was important to him.

 

2 Peter

 

Some of the troubles for the early church came from outside the church. Some of the troubles came from inside the church. When the church began to grow, false teachers came in. They said that they spoke the truth from God, but they did not. They caused people to turn away from the truth about Jesus. Peter wrote this letter to warn the *church about false teachers.
